Reblogged this on Share… What? and commented:
The best comparison of SharePoint 2013 Foundation, SharePoint 2013 Standard and SharePoint 2013 Enterprise.
Very nice, couldn’t find Foundation specific features listed anywhere. Thank you!
I’d say OAuth and Configuration Wizards are both in Foundation.
Hi.
Any feedback is apreciated and considered, do you have anything substancial to back that?
Microsoft says no on both according to this:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819267.aspx
At: SharePoint Server 2013 feature availability across on-premise solutions
Regarding Configuration Wizards, I can see at least the Farm Configuration Wizard on my Foundation (if that’s what you mean by this).
Regarding OAuth, I’d say it exists as you can have Apps in Foundation, and you can define server-to-server authentication, or at least you have New-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer PowerShell commands available (haven’t tested that in practice, though).
And Translation Services are not in Foundation.
Agree, I’ll update the list.
Technet differs a bit on this but I’ll go with your statement and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj553772.aspx
Regards
Updated, thanks Jussi!
Regards
Do you know how this compares to SharePoint Online (as part of Office365) ?
Hi Phil.
Take a look at the first link in the refrences section of this post, that gives you the complete fature list for SharePoint Online same as this one.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819267.aspx
Regards// Thomas
Great comparison!
I think that “Custom Site Definitions” and “Custom Site Provisioning” are available on Standard version and probably also on Foundation.
hi..
This is a great resource. There is still some confusion surrounding the release of SharePoint 2013 and which version is the best fit, so this is very helpful.
I’m pretty sure you can deploy apps to foundation http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236.aspx
Hi Gabriel.
If you verify that and get back to me, I’ll update the chart, else, have a look at this link that says it is not available in Foundation:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819267.aspx#bkmk_FeaturesOnPremise
Regards // Thomas
Hi, do you have comparison table for SharePoint 2010 editions?,
Hi. Unfortunately no.
This link is not the same, but a good list anyways, perhaps that will give you what you need?

// Thomas
This is fantastic – thank you!
Great list, thank you! One question however, is the ‘No’ for “Tasks integrated with Outlook” for Enterprise a typo?
I should clarify – not SharePoint Online but for on-premise. Thanks again
Of course onprem, is there any other? 😉
Rgds
// Thomas
Hi.
Yes, it is 🙂
Nicely spotted! Thanks
// Thomas
Wrong table!!!
“Custom Site Definitions” available in Standard edition. Custom Site Provisioning available only in Enterprise edition.
See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819267.aspx section “SharePoint feature availability across on-premises solutions”

Hi.
You are right and I have updated the table. Be aware that I posted the table in jjanuary, the technet list was updated september 9th.
It was wrong before as well.
But thanks for spotting it! I really appreciate it.
Regards
/. Thomas
Hi, I am not sure if you are still updating this one, but a few. errors in the search table: On-premises search index should be YES/YES/YES, Search connector framework should be NO/YES/YES, Tunable Relevancy should be NO/NO/YES. Source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819291.aspx . Cheers, Mattias
Thanks Mattias, I’ll make the updates after verifying.
Regards
// Thomas
Hi Again. Post updated with the new info. Thanks a lot for pointing it out. (You got cred 🙂 )
Regards
// Thomas
Good table indeed! also, SSRS should be YES for all three. Always has been supported on Foundation and always will be 🙂 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819267.aspx#bkmk_FeaturesOnPremise backs this up.
Hi Alex.
You are absolutely right, they updated the list since I made the table. Thanks for the headsup, I have made the changes now.
Regards
// Thomas
Great Chart
This helps with Office 365 a lot as the P & M plans offer SharePoint Standard and the E is SharePoint Enterprise.
But, I have an issue, You have “Design Manger” as “yes” for Foundation and I do not believe that is correct. You have to enable “SharePoint Publishing Feature” to turn on Design Manager and that is not available in Foundation.
Unless I’m missing something.
Same here as with Company feed. I followed what Microsoft says, and they say yes on the same link.
However, they have updated the documentation here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819267.aspx#bkmk_FeaturesOnPremise
So, I’ll update my chart to no on Foundation, makes sence to.
Thanks David
Regards
// Thomas
Also, Company Feed – You have as Yes for Foundation, it should be No
Hi David.
Apreciate the verifications, are you sure about company feed?
MS says yes on all three…on everything but the K1 plan really.
Look under the section: Social feature availability across on-premises solutions (a bit scrolling down)
On http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/sharepoint-online-social-service-description.aspx
Regards
// Thomas
I am not 100% sure, i can only tell you that we sell foundation, and we are the largest syndicated partner for MS for O365. I know that the company feed is not part of our Foundation. I do know its available in Office 365. When i click the link to go to the Company Feed,if you look at the last two “Applies to”, you will see the 2013 Ent, and 2013 sever, but you do not see Foundation…That is why i can only assume its not in Foundation.. but i could be wrong
And from what i read, you need to have your “Personal” site to post to the newsfeed, and there are no personal sites in Foundation. You cannot follow people in Foundation as there is no User profile service running…I would say there is no way for the company feed to work.. I know you can post to the company feed of a page, but you still have to have a personal page, and you don’t in Foundation…
Just my .02
Thanks for the quality feedback.
I’ll get the matrix updated asap.
Regards
// Thomas
Hi Thomas, it is mentioned that Design Manager is available for Foundation. To my knowledge the Design Manager only works on Publishing Sites (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/jj163942(v=office.15).aspx), which are not part of Foundation license (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262410.aspx).
Hi, you are absolutely right.
The Yes was based on Microsofts own list which has now been updated, the Yes was unfortunately never verified by myself.
List updated, thanks for the heads-up.
Regards
// Thomas
Thanks for your hard work in creating this list.
Thanks for the feedback.
Glad i can help, I needed the list myself and this was the best way to make it permanent and always available 🙂
Regards
// Thomas
Thank you Thomas a very nice summary (overview) and reference
This is really an helpful comparison chart. Thanks. SharePoint Foundation 2013 itself has lot to offer. And some companies like cloudappsportal.com are offering SharePoint hosting services free of cost which is yet another great news. Anyway thanks for the features chart.
Thanks for this great list! BTW, I believe RBS stands for “Remote BLOB Storage,” not “Remote BLOG Storage.”
Lol 🙂
Thanks!

Bom post comparando funcionalidades das diferentes versões do SharePoint 2013
The most practical blog post ever! I use it a lot. One comment, though: the Feature “Developer Site” is actually available in all Editions. An O365 Developer Site is only a “faster way of getting started”.
Everyone loves what you guys are usually up too. This sort of clever work and
reporting! Keep up the good works guys I’ve incorporated
you guys to blogroll.
Great ang very helpfull thanks.

This is so detailed it is worth having on everyone’s blog.
Thanks Thomas. It was helpful.
Just a little confusion, as per the chart on below link, Secure Store Service in NOT available in SharePoint 2013 foundation On-Premises but in above chart its available. Can you please reconfirm? Please comment if i missed something while verifying it.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/sharepoint-online-service-description.aspx#bkmk_FeaturesOnPremise
Best Regards.
Hi.
Can’t confirm unfortunately. This is an old post and things could have changed since then, or there was a mistake in the post. It is all based on TechNet/MSDN and research though.
